Summary:
S u m m a r y: Pseudohypacusis is a psychogenic hearing disorder simulated on purpose. It is rarely
diagnosed in children, also its incidence according to data in the literature is 1.7-2% of all diagnosed
hearing disorders. The author describes methods for its detection. In the case-history of undiagnosed
hypacusis the authors describe a boy who was examined by four different otolaryngologists and
attended a school for deaf children, although his hearing was not impaired.
