Summary:

Barrett´ oesophagu is a premalignant metaplastic change of the oesophageal mucosa. Due to its relation hip with oesophageal reflux disease and the development of adenomacarcinoma of the oesophagu the problem arouse increasing interest. In the wide pathogene is of the disease most probably the composite effect of the refluxed HCl content and duodenal juice play a part. In the diagnosis in addition to fundamental method - endoscopy and histology - increasingly chromoendo copy and fluorescent endoscopy are involved. Dispenarization of patient is esential and depends on the degree of pathohistological epithelial change . Treatment of Barrett´ oesophagu can be divided into conservative, where the drug of choice are protonspump inhibitor , and surgical treatment. Promising is endoscopic ablation of the epithelium in combination with ubequent anti ecretory therapy.
