The malabsorption syndrome ineludes all states in which there appear disorders in the digestion and absorp- tion of basic nutrients and consequently disease due to a deficiency of those substances. Its oceurrence is relatively frequent in children and adolescents. A review is presented on the etiology, pathogenesis, diffe- rential diagnostics and treatment of such states in children and adolescents taking into consideration the pre- sent trends in pediatrics.
