The objective of the investigation is to evaluate the importance of dimercaptosuccinic acid la- belled with 99mTc for the functional examination of the kidneys, on the basis of data from the li- terature as well as on the authors´ own experience. In the first chapter the authors present a review of the literature which deals with the pharma- cokinetics of 99mTc-DMSA and analyse possibilities to use 99mTc-DMSA for assessment of the global and separate renal function. The authors describe the algorithm of the calculation of the ratio of administered radioactivity cumulated in the renal parenchyma as a parameter for evalu- ation of the global and separate renal function.
