Summary:
Liver transplantation is a method of choice for irreversible state of liver cirrhosis of various causes. Ultrasound
investigation is a basic method for praetransplantation investigation of liver circulation and for followup
of the complications after transplantation. In the period after transplantation ultrasound dynamic
follow-up of fluid collection and resolution of vessels complications is reccomended. The detection of thrombosis
and stenosis of portal vein, hepatic artery and hepatic veins, pseudoaneurismatic dilation of hepatic artery,
biliary complications and disease reccurence are important problems useful for ultrasound detection. For
detection of thrombosis and stenosis of biliary artery is important an index of resistency of hepatic artery
which is under normal conditions lower than 0.08 and higher than 0.50 and systolic accelerated time which is
normaly higher than 0.08 seconds. Arterial thrombosis or stenosis is confirmed by resistency index lower than
0.50 and accelerated time higher than 0.8 seconds. Stenosis of portal and hepatic vein is confirmed by 3–4
times quicker flow in the place of stenosis in comparison with the region without stenosis. The paper describes
the most common complications after liver transplantation assessed by colour Doppler ultrasound.
