Summary:

The term genome is used for collection of all pieces of information necessary for life in any of its earth form and the life matter selected its nature in the molecules of nucleic acids. The basic properties of this information are its reproducibility with balanced capacity to remain in an unchanged form as well as to change. At the present time we know the size and structure and partly the function of various genomes of different organisms, including the humane genome. Our knowledge has been gradually evolving for purely speculative views, through identification of formal dependence between properties and their genetic basis up to the knowledge of physical/chemical nature and coding system used for the storage, release and execution of genetic information.

Key words: genome, chromosomal DNA, mitochondrial DNA, gene.
