In the critical review three authors from University Hospital in Aachen, Germany, pursue the clinical and laboratory problems of liver fibrosis [Gressner O. A., Weiskirchen R., Gressner A. M. Biomarkers of liver fibrosis: Clinical translation of molecular pathogenesis or based on liver-dependent malfunction tests. Clinica Chimica Acta, 2007, 381, p. 107– 113]. Their article undoubtedly possesses an educational design. However, it is not only synopsis of the actual state of the art in the knowledge of respective markers, but also rational evaluation their diagnostic and prognostic potential. Herewith we bring an extensive digest of the article.
