Summary: The authors discuss the problem of dental treatment of subjects after organ
transplantation, in particular from the aspect of self-handed dentists. Consistent with the view
of the German professional society for dental, oral and maxillary medicine (DGZMK) and other
professional sources, they recommend for antibiotic prophylaxis of the „single shot“ type
primarily a combination of amoxicillin and metranidazol. They advise to base the selection of
optimal continuous adjuvant antibiosis for prophylaxis in planned treatment during consecutive sessions on results of a molecular-biological tests (e.g. micro-Dent). The authors mention
the principle of the original collection of biological material (so-called POCKET-OUT) according
to Smola and Rettenberg for asessment of the main oral pathogens not only from the sulcus
but also from the gingival surface. In a table they summarize the problem of antibiotic
prophylaxis in the treatment of adult patients after transplantations.
