Objective: Summary of management of retroperitoneal endometriosis. Design: Review of the literature with actual experience of the author. Setting: Institute For the Care of Mother and Child, Prague - Podolí, Postgraduate Medical Scho- ol, Prague. Results: Retroperitoneal endometriosis is a serious disease especially in fertile women. It is often underdiagnosed. The surgical treatment is considered as a golden standard of the therapy, hor- monal treatment is of low importance, only together with surgical removement of endometriotic tissue. The surgery of retroperitoneal endometriosis is one of the most difficult surgical gynaeco- logical procedures and should be concentrated into specialised centres with experienced oncolo- gical surgeons.
