The aim of endoscopic treatment of gastroesophageal reflux disease is to create barrier to prevent backwash of gastroduodenal contents into the oesophagus. These techniques may be categorised into injection bulking, plicating and radiofrequency techniques.There are only initial uncontrolled studies,comparative and longer-term efficacy and safety data are needed. The endoscopic treatment of Barrett’s oesophagus is based on observation that interventions involving injury to the Barrett’s epithelium in the presence of reduced oeso-phageal acid exposure could lead at least to partial reversal of the metaplastic tissue. Photodynamic therapy, laser photocoagulation, argon plasma coagulation, electrocoagulation and endocopic mucosal resection can be used too. Remaining problem is the completeness of this reversal and the durability of this new epithelium.
