Summary: The intestine loosing its nerve supplementation continues the spontaneous movements, propulsis, originating
in the intrinsic myogenic gut-motility regulation. The cells described by Cajal as the interneurones of the
enteral nerve networks are actually the structure responsible for the myogenic movement control. Authors
review the value of interstitial cells of Cajal (ICC) and stress theoretical and clinical points of application.
