Summary:
Dermatological examination in patients with renal insufficiency usually reveals numerous skin and nail changes related to dialysis. The article explains specific and non-specific skin changes in chronic renal insufficiency such as pruritus, perforating and buUous diseases, calciphylaxis and recently described clinical entity - nephrogenic systemic fibrosis. The above mentioned complications could decrease quality of life in dialysed patients and some of them could also increase morbidity and even mortality. That is why an early dermatologic examination and proper treatment recommendation could improve quality of life in these patients.
