Summary:
The authors present certain specific forms of child abuse and neglect syndrome. The first part is devoted to
child work as a form of abuse. They describe the situation in developing and industrial societies and in our country.
Author's personal experience about children mandatory seasonal work before the year 1989, are presented. The
developmental, somatic and health risk factors associated with child work and possible preventive measures are
characterized. Currently among the children who work, the main health problems are injuries, disorders of the
locomotive system secondary to overuse and sexually transmitted diseases. The prevention of child work can be
done by better education and social environment and by the change of the life style of specific communities that
are not adjusted to industrial society.
