The author presents a review of the clinical symptomatology of functional disorders of the thoraco- lumbar junction and discusses the probable pathophysiological mechanism of the development of these symptoms. The disorder is manifested by lower back pain, pseudovisceral pain and pain in the trochanteric region imitating coxalgia. Moreover the patients suffer frequently from block age of the lower cervical spine. If the true etiology is not revealed, treatment fails.
