CT Arthrography of the Shoulder Joint Žižkovská K., Kolář J., Dvořák V. 1 Radiodiagnostická klinika IPVZ, FN Bulovka, Praha, |
|
Summary: The submitted review recapitulates briefly the anatomy of the shoulder joint and draws attention
to the main types of lesions of this joint and the general increase of indications for its diagnostic
imaging and posibilities of the latter. Pathological conditions are often caused by repeated micro-
traumas and increased burdening of the joints which causes pain and subsequently irreversible
degenerative and traumatic changes. Because the number of therapeutic procedures is increasing
as well as differences as to the type of the assessed lesion, the demands on the accuracy of the
diagnostic imaging of the shoulder joint increase also. The main part is played nowadays by CT and
MR examinations, frequently after administration of a contrast substance. The authors describe the
technique of examination and mention the main types of deviations.
