Summary:
The investigation summarizes changes in the compsition of the microbial
spectrum in the periodontal region focused on so-called periodontal pathogens, i.e. fusobacteria,
veilonellae, pigment-forming bacteroids and actinobacilli assembled in a longitudinal study in
adult patients with type 1 diabetes. From the results ensues that the microbial spectrum in
deep periodontal pockets did not change significantly in the course of the trial, while in shallow
periodontal pockets therewas a gradual reduction of periodontal pathogens.Dental therapeutic
and preventive intervention did not influence the prevalence of microbiological markers of
diabetes (candidae, St. epidermidis).
Key words:
oral health – diabetes mellitus type 1 – etiology of periodontal disease –
periodontal pathogens – C. albicans – Staphylococcus epidermidis – instructions for oral
hygiene
