MR Image in Less Frequent Medullary and Spinal Tumours with Verified Histology
Seidl Z., Obenberger J., Viták T., Vaněčková M., Daneš J.:

Radiodiagnostická klinika 1. LF UK, Praha,přednosta doc. MUDr. Jan Daneš, CSc.

Summary:

The authors demonstrate three less frequent spinal tumours - haemangioma, haemangiopericytoma and epidural lipomatosis. The diagnosis was made using MRI and histology enabled the definite diagnosis. MRI is very sensitive in imaging the pathology but usually does not give much certainty as to the specificity of the diagnosis concerning the pathological substrate. Nevertheless there are various features that add to the differential diagnostic conclusion. Histology in every individual case is crucial for the patient’s prognosis and clinical follow-up.

Key words: magnetic resonance - imaging MRI - spinal haemangioma - haemangiopericytoma - meningeal lipomatosis
