Gynaecological Patients

Summary:
Objective: The aim of the study was to ascertain the occurrence of depressive symptoms in two
groups of gynaecological patients undergoing treatment in the spa of Frant. Lázně (Franzensbad).
Design: A clinical study.
Setting: Psychiatric Clinic and Sexuological Institute, Medical Faculty of the Charles University
in Prague, Esplanade, Františkovy Lázně.
Methods: The examination was carried out using a structured interview and the Zung’s test SDS
(Self-rating depression scale).
Results and Conclusion: In the group of 22 patients with a cancer of sex organs and of breast the
occurrence of depressive symptoms was found in 9 of them (41 %) and in the group of 22 women
after hysterectomy and adnexectomy in 7 of them (about 32 %).
