Summary:
Evidence-based laboratory medicine (EBLM) based on systematic review of literature use of modern informa-
tics, critical approach to information and literature, laboratory test selection according to diagnostic efficiency,
elimination of obsolete tests, inclusion of new tests, cooperation, intensive and effective education. It means
a balance between cost and patient benefit, between analytical performance and clinical requirements. Some
methodological tools of EBLM, e.g. ROC analysis are briefly described.
