Paper presents recent views on the pathogenesis of the neuropsychiatric lupus and is aimed at the methods of clinical and laboratory examination, and at the supportive neurological methods of the liquor examination, electroencephalography (EEG), brain imaging using computer tomography (CT),magnetic resonance (MR), spectroscopy (SPECT) or positron emission tomography (PET). The most useful technique appears to be the magnetic resonance of the brain and the complex examination of liquor. Possibilities of treatment are briefly mentioned at the end of the paper.
