Summary:

Oral health survey of 18-yr-olds was conducted in 2000 in the sample of 357 recruits and in the group of 318 women. Indicators of oral health were compared with the results of previous surveys in 1987 and 1995 and with the WHO goals for the year 2000. The results revealed the significant decline of the caries experience, of the mean count of D and F teeth and the improvement of periodontal status in women when compared with 1987. With regards to the WHO goals for the year 2000 our 18-yr-old men highly exceeded the parameter of dental status (96,4 % of individuals without tooth extractions due to caries) and approached to filling the parameter of periodontal health (70,9 % subjects with at least three sextants CPI=0). 99,7 % of 18-yr-old women were without extraction due to caries and 87,1 % of them had CPI=0 at least in three sextants.

Key words: epidemiology – age category of 18 years – periodontal status – WHO goals for 2000
